Romney 2.0 - BullyBot
Do you remember a number of backs when the Republicans Presidential candidates were holding weekly debates? There was an instance where Rick Perry got under Mitt Romney’s skin and Mitt placed his hand on Perry’s arm. There was some chatter that Romney was controlling, didn’t like others to disagree with him, and placing his hand on Perry’s arm was a show of aggression. At the time, I assumed that the media was blowing the situation out of proportion, but with the recent allegations of bullying by Romney when he was in prep school make me wonder if Mitt really does have an anger problem and is fearful of those that do not conform to his will.
While it is important to recognize that the incident to have recently come to light of Mitt Romney cutting the hair off a non-comformist at his prep school, happened over 40 years ago, it is also important to consider whether or not this behavior represents a pattern of behavior or an example of Mitt’s true self. About a month ago, Romney’s wife suggested that we don’t know the real Mitt. Hopefully this wasn’t what she was referring to. But, here are some examples of the unempathetic, maybe even bully-like Romney:
- With no more room in the family car, Romney strapped the family dog’s crate to the roof of the car so the dog could ride along – atop the car.
- Professionally, Romney was a hatchet-man, often firing people to help companies survive.
- Even personally, Romney has expressed pleasure in firing people.
- Altercations with Rick Perry include a $10,000 bet and a hand on the arm.
While these are only a few examples, they add to the Romney persona of being a mean-spirited elitist. He is constantly considered a robot, empathetic, and aloof from real people. Now we see that maybe that is truly the case and always has been.
